When an amputee has fingers amputated beyond the length for individual prosthetic fingers to be attached, a partial hand is made to prosthetically restore the missing fingers.
However, our clients’ intact fingers are not covered with the prosthesis, maintaining full movement.
As seen in the example above, each partial hand prosthesis poses the challenge of requiring custom engineering to fit the residual limb and allow movement by the unaffected fingers. This client has an intact thumb, but a large mass of skin around the palm. Alatheia specialists created a custom, partial hand prosthesis for him.
